Heritage Open Weekend

Over the special openings across the Heritage Open Weekend, we hosted nearly 70 visitors, most of whom travelled in from Alcester & the surrounding area, whilst some travelled in from as far away as Coventry, Leicester, Bridgend & Tredegar. All visitors enjoyed finding out about life in Roman Alcester & the guided tour given by Laurence was especially appreciated.

As can be seen from the photo, we had a very well-dressed visitor at the Museum during the Heritage Open Weekend. She was pleased to meet our very own Roman Centurion (Mick), so naturally she dressed appropriately for this special occasion.

Centurions

Come and join the Centurions – a group of volunteers and supporters of Alcester Roman Museum. The Museum is lucky to have a number of volunteers and supporters who help it to remain open to the public and provide support and their time ensuring that the public have an enjoyable experience when visiting the Museum.

The Centurions’ annual programme of events enables the volunteers and supporters and everyone else with an interest to meet together once a month at Globe House (entrance off Priory Road). If you have an interest in Roman history, particularly around the Alcester area, then please consider joining us.

Our revised 2023 programme is shown here (no booking necessary, just come along).

PLEASE NOTE: The date for the Christmas Social listed below has changed to Wednesday 20th December starting at 2pm at the Our Lady & St Joseph’s Hall, Priory Road.
